The Star Pillow announce new album Invisible Summer, premiere video for "the end is a beginning"
"Nothing says 'ambient' like mute, graceful deer." -Brian Eno, possibly.

In a world where we’re ALL (I believe) morally responsible for undoing as much of the cultural damage done by Billy Corgan as possible, Italian guitarist Paolo Monti — a.k.a. The Star Pillow — has set about doing his fair share with today’s unveiling of his contemplative, ambient drone project’s latest clip for “the end is a beginning,” which TMT is proud to premiere for you today.

The video, which was directed by Roberto Beani and filmed last summer during Monti’s tour of Japan, is (somehow) equal parts “viscerally intense” and “resignedly melancholic,” and it features some really…really…really adorable/sinister deer.

The song “the end is a beginning” is, fittingly enough, also the closing track on The Star Pillow’s newest sleeping pill-fueled, four-song album Invisible Summer, which is out May 5 on Midira Records on LP, CD, and digital.

Apart from the comparatively-bracing coda of “the end is a beginning,” the album’s other three sprawling tracks (here’s a sample of the 23-minute “while you were sleeping in july”) offer more serene, shimmering dedications to each of the summer months (and were each conceived and recorded in the thick of a particularly hot summer in north Italy, where Monti resides.)

Check out the clip below, head over here to pre-order the full album, and remember: it’s up to all of us to fight against the the poisonous apocalyptic racket raised by the likes of Billy Corgan via the healing and emotionally-cleansing power of ambient.

Invisible Summer tracklisting:
