Honestly, I’d totally forgotten about the whole Flaming Lips/Plastic Ono Band two-show New Year’s shindig in Oklahoma City. I’m sure the confetti and giant plastic bubbles and cosmic sounds blasting through megaphones were great and everything, but it’s not as if they were playing any week-long songs or handing out gummy arms and legs. Apparently, however, The Flaming Lips and Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band also released a four-song EP pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl. I have a few colored records, but glow-in-the-dark?! I’d take that over a gummy-encased hard drive any day (that shit would probably get pretty sticky).

Anyway, all 2000 copies have already sold out, but the tracks are all streaming over at Consequence of Sound. It’s certainly not the same as turning off all the lights and playing a glow-in-the-dark record, but hey, I can still dig it. It all sounds sort of like transmissions from a discotheque for robot ghosts on Pluto, which is pretty rad.
