“Did you hear about the Swans tour this spring?” Did I?! It’s a crazy coincidence you should ask me that because I was literally just running over here to let you know the specific dates (posted below). And you know what else? Jenny Hval, whose Innocence Is Kinky (TMT Review) was pretty popular around these parts last year, will join the band throughout the month of May. Neat! Tickets for all dates on are on sale today.
“Wait a minute, don’t Swans have like a new album or something coming out soon?” Well look at you, remembering music news and everything. You’re right by the way, it’s called To Be Kind, it’s out May 13, and sources that I definitely did not make up have referred to it as “even better than American Idiot.” It will be available as a triple vinyl album, a double CD, and a double CD deluxe edition including a live DVD. According to Michael Gira, there’s also a possibility of a “USB stick” release if he and his buddies can figure out how to make the darn things work. It’s a follow up to 2012’s monstrous The Seer (TMT Review) and it’s over two hours long.
“And, hang on, I think I’m getting visions of a solo Michael Gira tour in March?” Right again, you sexy genius, you. I’ll throw the dates below in case they don’t magically come to you by way of that steel-trap memory of yours.
