Ty Segall announces break from releasing albums of original songs to release album of cover songs

If there’s two things in life that Ty Segall loves, it’s writing albums and making songs. How else do you explain his one billion songs spread out across 583 albums? The man is as prolific as they come. What happens however, when the time comes for Ty Segall to release his third album of the year, but he’s totally blanking on song ideas!? The answer…is Fudge Sandwich.

A slab of chocolate nestled between two slices of bread, Fudge Sandwich is a Ty Segall covers album. No no — not a collection of others interpreting Ty Segall songs, nor Ty covering himself by performing all of Emotional Mugger on flugelhorn. This is Ty MF-ing Segall having some fun in between the times he takes his dog out for a walk, performing covers of some of his favorite artists: John Lennon, Funkadelic, Sparks, Grateful Dead, and more! (Because what would a covers album be without the inclusion of the immortal “and more!”?)

Get a taste of this sweet sammie by listening to Segall’s cover of the Spencer Davis Group’s “I’m A Man” down below. Fudge Sandwich is being served up on October 26 via In The Red and can be pre-ordered “for here” and “to go” right over here. Yum.
