Volcanic ash, psshh... Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band is back with Where the Messengers Meet

We’re finally getting over tour delays and flight cancellations after that damn Eyjafjallajökull mess, and now Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band is set to blow too. The group (not to be confused with Chicago band Mt. St. Helens — to differentiate themselves, MSHVB add Apocalypse Now to Pierce Brosnan) have just announced a release date for their sophomore album, Where the Messengers Meet. The album is slated for August 3 on Dead Oceans and will probably draw comparisons shortly after to those powerhouse indie standards that came of age in the mid-00s (you know the ones… The Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, popular-era Modest Mouse).

In the meantime, you can listen to a new track, “Leaving Trails,” from Where the Messengers Meet. And check out Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band’s MySpace for songs from their 2009 self-titled album and some very select tourdates. Kaboom!
