According to their Facebook page, Los Angeles-based dance label 100% Silk “makes 45 RPM 12 inch singles of diamond-life dance & bliss-disco & basement luxury grooves.” For me, that means sequins falling from a ceiling made of flashing neon panels, throbbing bodies, sunglasses shaped like lightning bolts and stars, smoke rising from a checkerboard floor, television static, and ghosts.
A couple weeks ago, we told you a little about a tour and a lot more about a proposed documentary for this Not Not Fun offshoot, and now I’ve got some details to toss your way thanks to Dummy Mag. Once May rolls around, diamond-dance/bliss-disco/basement-luxury/electro-summer fun/magic-beat-house-etc. jammers LA Vampires, Ital, Maria Minerva, and Magic Touch will all board a plane or cram into a canoe or hop onto a flying dragon to make their way over to Europe for a showcase tour.
LA Vampires is the project of Amanda Brown (founder of 100% Silk), Ital recently released Hive Mind on Planet Mu (TMT Review), Maria Minerva recently appeared on the Chocolate Grinder, and Magic Touch might be able to turn things invisible. And, in case you’re curious, for me Europe means baguettes and jam, crumbling castles hidden in forests of pine trees, wizards, tiny cups of coffee, and Wuthering Heights.
