♫♪  Alix Hyde - Wanderings

Through whim and wonder, UK-based artist and illustrator Alix Hyde — who you may have caught on Onmyodo’s recent World Ambient compilation — is officially releasing a debut full-length tomorrow (Friday) through Elestial Sound. Scrolling through Hyde’s art as Wanderings spins, the use and allowance of water colors to bleed and blend is also reflected in the music. Take “Myriad Tears,” for example, where there’s no clear line from A to B and the rhythm seems in continual need of catching its balance with each loop, the more fluid and skittish colors moving with a symbiotic weightlessness. The music video for “Myraid Tears”, directed by Tristan Whitehill (a.k.a. Euglossine and Stany Bebe), takes Hyde’s water colors and digitizes it into a screensaver-like dream.

We have the pleasure of premiering Wanderings in full below. You can grab it on digital or tape (as well as Hyde’s art in button form) via Bandcamp. And if you’re in Gainesville, FL on February 20, Elestial Sound’s artist residency and showcase series GAZE is hosting Hyde for a record release show. Also keep an eye out for the digital remix album of Wanderings featuring HRTZ, Mila Chiral, Jacob Silver, Ghost Fields, Goode Bye and Sunmoonstar, in the coming weeks.
