Music and arts collective Elestial Sound is starting the year with a label-wide forecast mixtape on the January 22 featuring 16 tracks from 16 artists across North America and Europe. Started as a means to mix sound and wax, the Florida bred, open road raised label began back in 2011 before coming into it’s own with the release of Hundred Waters’ s/t a year later and gaining the funds and support to open up their headquarters on Gainesville’s southwest side (full disclosure it’s my hometown). Their showcases are super live and their tour buses run on vegetable oil. Coupled up with Gainesville’s Church of Holy Colors, the two have created a space safe for whatever your ears want.
The 16 bands of the Elestial Sound 2015 Forecast features label mates Chromadadata, Euglossine, Floating, Kane Pour, Danny, Masune (of MSNRA), with Cody William Wicker and Evan Galbicka (Church of Holy Colors) creating the mixtapes visual counterpart. Florida-based associate acts Maximino, Ben Varian, Levek, and Woset. Plus a slew of fresh like Cosmic Vitamins, J Albert, Poppet, Piyojo, Mariama, and Andrew Downs. Levek’s 2011 demo “Jericho” and Woset’s “Waning Time” are up for stream below and the mixtape will be nestled in the Elestial Sound bandcamp Thursday.
