Balam Acab teams with L'Oreal

“See Birds (Sun)”

I’ll be honest, as far as Witch House is concerned, I didn’t even listen to the Salem album last year. But shit, I couldn’t stop playing Balam Acab. And now I can’t stop applying L’Oreal products. I’m jerking to Beyoncé, too (mmm… 7up). Thanks to Stereogum for revealing this classy yarn.

“Rock N Roll” [feat. Ghostface, Jim Jones]

Raekwon is back in the muthafuckin’ mother-fucking house with a new track, “Rock N Roll,” which features Ghostface and Jim Jones. The song is off his fifth full-length, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, due March 8. (via The Quietus)

“The Source”

Hey, it’s a Ga’an side project! Fielded is singer Lindsay Powell, belting some serious Kate Bush-style mysticism on a track from her forthcoming White Death 7”, out March 1 on Sophomore Lounge Records. As a bonus, check out “Fire Rock Walls” from 2010’s Terrageist. More like this plz.

The Psychic Paramount

Equal parts bombastic noise and skewed rhythmic concoctions, the peak limiters were pushed well beyond the threshold of distortion for a full-blown cosmic journey of the senses.

This is how J. Bohannon described The Psychic Paramount’s Gamelan into the Mink Supernatural in our Favorite Albums, 2000-2009 list.

Now the band has returned for The Psychic Paramount II, out Feb. 22nd on No Quarter. We’ve got an exclusive peak at new track “RW,” which has tamed the gain in favor of a propulsive, over the top, anxious, psychedelic vibe. I like those words together. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Teengirl Fantasy / Raymond Scott

Who is sampling what these days?

It seems that every time I hear some catchy, vintage-sounding synth concoction at the beginning of an electronic track, I’m sent scurrying to the Raymond Scott library to find its origin.
