Dirty Projectors announce US tour in support of the time between Bitte Orca and their next album
By Mango Starr on Mar 24 2010
Dirty Projectors are about to set forth on yet another US tour. But not before Dave Longstreth’s fake interview with TMT!

So, what’s it like?
What’s what like?
You know, being a star?
I’m not sure if you could call me a “star,” per se.
Well… then what’s it like to play The Getty Address in full? Isn’t Bitte Orca your hit album?
I think the album is underrated and want more people to hear it. I want more people to hear me too, because I’m also underrated. Have you even heard The Getty Address? Can you believe all the amazing shit I did on it?
Have I heard it? Shit, son — I practically wrote that motherfucker. It was on our decade list even.
What decade list?

Oh, you write for a webzine or something?
Fuck yeah, dude. Tiny Mix Tapes, only the most well-regarded webzine of all-time.
Never heard of it.
It’s an underground sorta thing.
Is it like Prefix?
Dude, fuck you.
What do you mean?
I mean “fuck you.”
No need to get hostile, bro. I just never heard of Tiny Mixed Tapes. Do you guys actually make mix tapes?
Well, we make tracklists out of mix tape requests.
Tracklists only? People can’t even hear the music, then?
No, they could download if they wanted to though.
What’s the point then?

BREAKING: Billy Corgan is indie!
By Brom on Mar 24 2010
Billy Corgan — front-man for the all-time greatest, bestest, most brilliant alternative band ever: Smashing Pumpkins (beating Zwan out by a couple power chords) — has announced that he is, in fact, indie! April 17 will see the pre-sale of Smashing Pumpkins’ new EP Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol 1: Songs For A Sailor. The EP is only available through independent record stores — yeah man, screw those corporate fat cats!
Mr Corgan said “I used to work at an indie record shop so I’ll always have a soft spot for the places where I still go to find the most vital music, whether new or still hidden.”
April 17 is also Record Store Day, a chance for ordinary Americans to take a stand against greedy major labels and soulless department stores. So, in support, you couldn’t do much worse than head on down to your local indie store and grab a limited-edition version of Smashing Pumpkins’ new EP available via Martha’s Music/Rocket Science Ventures. Also don’t forget those important sponsors of Record Store Day, who contribute selflessly to innovation in music — EMI Distribution, Sony Music, Universal Music Distribution and Warner Bros. Records.
Stick it to ‘em Billy!

WOXY announces suspension of live broadcasts
By Annapocalypse on Mar 24 2010
A sad day for the online radio community indeed, as WOXY announced this week that they would be suspending their live broadcasts as of March 23. The full message from their website is below:
WOXY Listeners, Fans and Friends…
Due to current economic realities and the lack of ongoing funding for WOXY‘s operations, we’ve been forced to suspend our live broadcasts as of March 23rd. We’re continuing to explore options to keep The Future of Rock and Roll alive. For business inquiries, please contact Bryan Jay (bryan@woxy.com) or John at Future Sounds (john@futuresounds.com).
Thanks for your years of dedicated support.
The last time WOXY was the victim of financial hardship in May 2004, the station shut down and was saved at the last minute by anonymous investors. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that anyone is rushing to their aid as of right now, but we’ll keep you updated.
