Another day, another story about Thrill Jockey’s never-ending celebration of itself. It can’t even drink yet and we’re supposed to be all excited. We previously announced the first round of 20th-anniversary shows to be held in Baltimore, New York, and Portland, and now comes word of two additional West Coast shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Chicago-based label’s extensive roster of acts clearly spans the breadth of the nation, allowing it to get down and party everywhere but its hometown so far (though word is a Chicago spectacular will round out the year’s celebration sometime in December). Bottom line: if you’ve got a couch, Thrill Jockey would like to crash on it.
Like the already announced shows, the two new gigs look to be stellar reflections on a still-strong label’s first two decades at work.
If that wasn’t enough, Thrill Jockey will also be hosting a day party at this year’s Hopscotch festival in Raleigh, NC, featuring what is rumored to be an ‘all-star’ line-up set by Man Forever. It’s still possible Thrill Jockey bands will be playing in your mom’s basement or that dive bar down the street, so stay tuned for additional announcements to come.
Tickets are still available for all of the announced shows so far, so if you like good music and you live in California or North Carolina (or Oregon, New York, the greater-DC area, and eventually London or Chicagoland), go find your billfold and start transacting now.
