Adult Swim begins gratuitous 2016 Singles program, ft. tracks by Elysia Crampton, Tim Hecker, D∆WN, and more

What’s that? You say a reliable method of telling the beginning of a new week is to routinely wear nipple clamps after their manual cleaning every seven days? Most of us have grown accustomed to more natural/less masochistic methods of determining the passage of time, and yet most of us wouldn’t mind (I’m imploring you to believe) a process that’s more exciting than looking at a calendar or monotonously re-indulging our M-F responsibilities. We can thank the continued existence of Adult Swim’s annual Singles series for giving us a supremely enjoyable alternative to two weirdly-shaped shirt bulges. The number of tracks featured in this year’s edition has increased to 25 from the 22 in 2015, so it’s only a matter of time before this becomes less a “series” and more a perpetual fact of life.

25 tracks! That’s one track per week for 25 weeks, and in accordance with tradition, each track is previously unreleased from the artists carefully chosen. The artists featured on this year’s list include Elysia Crampton, Jlin, D∆WN, DJ Paypal, Jenny Hval, Tim Hecker and Mica Levi. Run the Jewels and Flying Lotus also return as if by necessity; something tells me they collectively have at least three secret handshakes with Adult Swim CEO Bruce Taylor.

See the complete list of artists after the first Adult Swim single of 2016 by DJ Paypal (ft. DJ Earl and DJ Taye), which was unveiled today.
