Aphex Twin decides to pollute the shallow end of the web this time, dumps 30 more unreleased tracks on us

Short Version:

Do these new tracks Richard D. James just tossed out eight weeks or so after the hyped-to-shit release of Syro comprise a tight-knit, story-telling, compelling, coherent collection of the latter-day Aphex Twin digi-oeuvre that you must wrap your best-new-music-listening-ears around ASAP??? Naw. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Still… Aphex Twin is still pretty cool to know about, so you’ll want to keep reading.

Long Version:

As Pitchfork reports, a ways back, Richard D. James was hanging out and drinking tea and being his usual, genial, non-temperamental technocrat self with Dave Noyze, who runs the popular UK blog Noyzelab (I totally read it every day, believe me); when — amid talk of his goofy equipment, creative processes, wistful childhood reminiscences, etc. — he also casually happened to share a whole pixelated Super Mario Bros. 3-style flying boatload of new (to us, at least) music. Ca-ching! Right?

Well, we didn’t really know until just recently, when Part 2 of said-interview finally got posted, along with links to “over 30 recordings, including 20 sonic experiments made on Buchla and Serge modular synths (James refers to them as “a fucking racket”), outtakes from his orchestral performances in London and Poland, and more.” But just in case you don’t really wanna visit all these hyperlinks and shit, you can stream James’ 20-track “exploration of the modular synth” down below. Go ahead. Whip it on. Open another tab. Sip your favorite Keurig beverage. See how long you last. Maybe surf Amazon.com? You deserve it. Oh, and you can also hear and download the the rest of the stuff, but you have to click a hyperlink to do it. Yeah, sorry, man. Still, though. Like I said up above: Aphex friggin’ Twin, right? Still seems pretty cool to know about.
