What do you get when you combine a woman with talent and a man with potential? Apparently, the answer is some kind of test tube-born goddess of avant-noise meanderings, embodied, in this case, as Ashley Paul’s track “Soak the Ocean.” This remix is of the first track off her forthcoming album entitled Line the Clouds. For most of the piece, guest artist Pete Swanson’s tendrils of distortion almost overpower Ashley Paul’s vocal and instrumental wanderings, blowing open her typically more personal style. Her softly plinking strains and hushed vocals have been blasted through the wardrobe and into an uncertain landscape of strange, wavering noise.

Treat yourself to a walk through it below, or take your chances when Line the Clouds comes out on Eli Keszler’s Rel Records March 26.
