Black Pus and Oozing Wound to release a split LP in June, not as foul as their names make it sound

Our story begins on May 7, 2013. A balmy night in Chicago. We hear stomps and screeches of nightmarish aliens and creatures transported here from the future through broken TVs. Loud and freaky.

That’s the night Black Pus and Oozing Wound played a show together at The Empty Bottle. Trouble’s been brewing since then, a nascent universe occupied only by drum freakouts and thrash, and finally we’re going to have a chance to hear what it sounds like. On June 17, Black Pus and Oozing Wound will release a split LP via Thrill Jockey. The Black Pus side features a track with clean vocals, which is unusual for Brian Chippendale, who evidently chose to record his voice sans distortion as a way to confront listeners more intensely. The Oozing Wound side captures four hours of audio pared down to just 15 minutes, and it acts as a teaser for the band’s second album, which will be released in August.

Following the release of the split LP, Black Pus will tour Europe, including at show at Roskilde Festival. Oozing Wound will play the Gilead Media Festival in July, followed by an East Coast tour.

Black Pus/Oozing Wound split tracklist:

01. Blood Will Run (Black Pus)
02. Total Eclipse (Black Pus)
03. Ganja Gremlin (Oozing Wound)
04. Aging Punk (Oozing Wound)
05. All Things Must Pass Out (Oozing Wound)
