Almost three years since the debut of his monumental Cupid Deluxe album, Dev Hynes has finally revealed the release date of his third effort under the Blood Orange moniker. Titled Freetown Sound, the 17-track collection is set to hit stores July 1 via Domino and has been prefaced with a gorgeous trailer on Hynes’s official website; the trailer’s footage features artists including Blondie, De La Soul, and Hynes himself.
Hynes took to Twitter to expand on his vision behind Freetown Sound, stating, “My album is for every1 told they’re not black enough, 2 black, 2 queer, not queer the right way, the under appreciated, it’s a clapback.”
