Brian Eno to release collaborative album with Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams on Warp

Brian Eno to release collaborative album with Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams on Warp http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/news-10-08-brian-eno.png

According to Exclaim, Brian Eno is set to release a collaborative album with electronic producer Jon Hopkins and guitarist Leo Abrahams on Warp Records. Full details have yet to be announced, but the album is supposedly due sometime in the fall. While initial rumors late last month anticipated a solo Eno release — due in no small part to Eno’s website and this Warp page — the news of the collaboration was “leaked” on Abraham’s “webdiary”:

Lastly, there’s an album out soon by Brian Eno, with myself and Jon Hopkins. It will be on Warp. It contains the fruits of several years of jams between the three of us. I’ve not heard anything quite like it — it sounds ‘live’ and ‘alien’ at the same time. Some things have been permitted to survive, which only Brian would have had the courage to let go, and it’s so much the better for it.

Mysteriously, the paragraph has since been omitted from the original post. Don’t worry, though; we have our investigative team working on this developing story 24/7. In the meantime, check out this performance by Eno, Hopkins, and Abrahams:

Local Natives announce fall tour? Yeah right! Oh wait… actually, yeah, right.

Those buzzed California indie rockers in Local Natives are going on tour? Uh, yeah right! I’ve heard that one before, buddy! And it was true last time I heard it, so I guess it’s true again. Local Natives are, in fact, embarking on another nationwide tour this fall, in support of their Frenchkiss debut Gorilla Manor (TMT Review). Next thing you’re going to tell me is that those guys are super thorough about hitting the United States’ major geographical areas. By the way, thanks for telling me that, because that totally is true, as the Local Natives boys are hitting up the West Coast, Midwest, Southeast, and East Coast on this tour. Who’s going to be deprived of Local Natives this fall? Nobody, apparently.

Animal Collective’s Avey Tare to release Down There in October

Avey Tare released a backwards album with Kria Brekkan in 2007 titled Pullhair Rubeye. Most people hated it (not TMT!). I’m not sure what I think yet, because I have yet to read Pitchfork’s review, but for what it’s worth, I really love Curren$y, Best Coast, and Wavves! Anyway, after having just established my credibility, I am now here to report that Avey Tare is releasing a solo album titled Down There on Animal Collective’s label, Paw Tracks. It’s not backwards, but it’s apparently influenced by crocodiles, which is pretty cool. Definitely cooler than being about beach balls, eh?

Down There is due October 26.

Down There tracklist:

01. Laughing Hieroglyphic
02. 3 Umbrellas
03. Oliver Twist
04. Glass Bottom Boat
05. Ghost of Books
06. Cemeteries
07. Heads Hammock
08. Heather in the Hospital
09. Lucky 1

How to write a Wavves news story, lesson one: new US tourdates

When writing a new story about Wavves, the biggest challenge is to not mention any of the following:

1. Nathan Williams’ on-stage meltdown at the Primavera Festival last year due to…
2. Drugs, which he still most likely takes with…
3. Bethany Cosentino a.k.a. Best Coast, who is his girlfriend and who also owns…
4. A cat named Snacks that is featured on the covers of both of their new albums.

Yeah, try not to mention any of that stuff, will you? The following items, however, are acceptable:

• Wavves’ new album, King of the Beach (TMT Review), is due out in physical form August 3 via Fat Possum Records.

Gorillaz add new US tourdates; who knew cartoon characters could maintain so much cred?

It’s been awhile since Gorillaz released their debut album (TMT Review)… nine years to be exact. Who knew that a bunch of cartoon characters created by the singer of a 90s Britpop band and a graphic designer would still be credible almost a decade later? Well, not only are they still very much relevant, but Gorillaz will be embarking on a fall tour to support their recent album Plastic Beach (TMT Review) on Virgin Records. The “Escape to Plastic Beach” tour will hit most major cities in the US, and tickets go on sale for most dates during the first two weeks of August.

King Khan and the Shrines tour the Midwest, Northeast, and that Canada place in just two weeks

After slinging soul across the greater part of this nation last spring, King Khan and the Shrines are hitting the road once again to tag the towns they missed on their first go-round. And let me tell you, King Khan: good move on making amends with my home city of St. Louis by making us your first stop on this particular tour. People around my hood are still hopping mad that your manager had to go and get his ass arrested for mushrooms when you and BBQ Show were on your way to Off Broadway last November. It’s been annoying as hell to hear people bitch for months and fucking months about missing that show, so thank you for coming back so everyone can just shut up and get back to loving you again. Just don’t fucking cancel again (or break up again), please!

10.03.10 - St. Louis, MO - 2720 Cherokee
10.04.10 - Minneapolis, MI - Triple Rock Social Club
