Can celebrate 40 years of Tago Mago by reissuing it, taking it out for a romantic dinner, and renewing their vows

It’s been 40 years since Can released their best album, Tago Mago, and to celebrate the ruby anniversary, Mute has released all the relevant details regarding the special, celebratory, obligatory reissue of the now-classic album.

The deluxe new pressing will feature ALL of the original artwork from the UK version of the album along with a bonus CD of live material from 1972, and is set for consumption on November 14 of this year. In addition to info about Tago Mago, Mute also spilled the beans about a Can box set in the works, saying: “All 14 of Can’s studio albums have been newly cut to vinyl from the remastered tapes for release as a vinyl deluxe box set in early 2012. This will include CDs of all the albums, extensive booklets, an exclusive never released live album (vinyl only) and a newly remastered Out of Reach previously unavailable! The vinyl deluxe box set will be available for pre-order at the beginning of October 2011.”

Mute also revealed that a 50th anniversary version of Tago Mago is being planned and that the only difference will be a “5” instead of a “4” but that it’s “totally essential” to the Can experience.
