David Bowie Rare and Unseen DVD coming this fall (surprisingly, "rare and unseen" does not mean explicit)

Dear Tiny Mix Tapes American Readership:

Okay, so apparently there’s this crazy British dude out there named David Bowie. I know, I know, I’d never heard of him either, but I guess he’s been an actor, producer, and musician for something like five decades now! Seriously. True story. I just Googled the dude, and check out what I found:

“Most famous for the gaudy, and sexually androgynous ‘Ziggy Stardust’ alter-ego that he created during early 1970’s glam-rock heyday, David Bowie has continuously reinvented his music and public image for almost fifty years and is regarded as a leading innovator, particularly within the world of rock music. He has had several hits, including “China Girl,” “Modern Love,” “Starman,” “Space Oddity,” “Under Pressure,” “Let’s Dance,” and more. Bowie is a talented multi-instrumentalist, often contributing guitars, keyboards, saxophone, piano, harmonica, xylophone, drums, percussion, and countless other instruments to recordings, making him one of the most consummate musicians in the world.”

See? I’m guessing from this description that he’s really influenced by, like, Kevin Barnes and of Montreal and all that stuff. Which is cool. I like of Montreal a lot. Either way, seems like we’d both better bone up on this guy a little bit, readers, so I went ahead and did some digging on Amazon for us. Looks like the dude’s got a DVD coming out on November 23 called David Bowie Rare and Unseen. I can’t remember all the info or anything, but I think that it goes something like this:

“Told through missing-believed-wiped archive interviews and rare and unseen footage, this insightful DVD contains a wealth of genuinely unseen and never-before-released-on-DVD footage and interviews, including film from the ITN archive. Previously thought-to-be-lost and now restored TV interviews from the past and rare film of the singer talking about his career are featured, including:

- UNSEEN: RUSSELL HARTY interview — restored for 16:9
- RARE: New York Interview 1999
- UNSEEN: Candid admissions on drugs and the Berlin days
- RARE: Press Conference performance
- UNSEEN: Janet Street Porter backstage before gig
- RARE: Rehearsal footage”

Man, this guy seems almost as cool as Kevin Barnes for sure. We’d better get on this, American readers. This DVD would be perfect for making us seem like we know what we’re talking about at parties this winter. Don’t forget: 11.23 release date. Mark your Google Calendars. We don’t want the rest of the world to think we’re slouches or anything.

Your Pal,
 Nobodaddy

P.S. While we’re on the subject, does anyone know who this John Lennon guy is? His name kept popping up in all of my Bowie searches. Thanks, guys. L8-R!
