Ghostface Killah gives you Twelve Reasons to Die in case you needed any more

Ghostface Killah gives you Twelve Reasons to Die in case you needed any more http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/1302/news-13-02-ghostface-killah.jpg

Did you sleep alright last night? Any scary white eyes, mouths, and ears floating over your bed, moaning unintelligibly? No? You say there weren’t? You say you slept just fine? Do you think that was an accident? Of course it wasn’t an accident! Reader, there are ghost faces everywhere, and they would love nothing more than to hover over your bed and make screeching noises while you try to sleep. Some estimates say there are as many as 11 ghost faces per household in America. Only one man stands between us and a literal onslaught.

That man, of course, is Tony Starks a.k.a. Ghostface Killah a.k.a. the killah of ghost faces of all sizes, shapes, and political affiliations. When he’s not slaying translucent disembodied heads, he’s usually making some pretty sick hip-hop. Recently he clarified some details about an upcoming full-length, and really, it’s the least you can do to listen up.

The album, originally planned for release back in November, is called Twelve Reasons to Die, and is now scheduled to drop on April 16, released by Soul Temple Music. It’s a collaboration with Adrian Younge, executive produced by RZA. Coming with a six-issue comic book series that will be collected in the form of a graphic novel, Twelve Reasons to Die is a “crime/horror concept album.” The first single, “The Rise of Ghostface Killah,” which chronicles Ghost’s early days as our nighttime defender, is available now for free. Listen to it here:

Additionally, because Ghostface Killah is as tireless as we mortals are tired, he will be touring this spring with Younge, starting with a date at SXSW in March and ending in June (dates are TBD). Even more, he’s offered a video update on the seriously-forever-in-the-works DOOM collaboration DOOMSTARKS, in which he says that all things happen in “God’s time” (as you probably know, God is notoriously slow at putting beats together). Natural Snow Buildings and Ba Da Bing combine forces to revive 2008’s The Snowbringer Cult on vinyl

Continuing their campaign to become less elusive, Natural Snow Buildings are re-releasing The Snowbringer Cult via Ba Da Bing. The album is split into appropriately irregular sections with Solange Gularte’s Isengrind and Mehdi Ameziane’s Twinsistermoon making up the first two-thirds of the album and the pair regrouping for the final third. Ba Da Bing previously reissued a drool-inducing 4LP version of Natural Snow Buildings’ 2008 monolithic work Night Coercion into the Company of Wolves (TMT Review), and are giving The Snowbringer Cult a similar loving treatment.

The album will be issued in its original two-CD format alongside each group’s section being released for the first time on vinyl, with the added bonus of interconnecting artwork. Winter comes late when The Snowbringer Cult returns in March.

The Snowbringer Cult tracklist:

Tegan and Sara tour; college bro renounces his misogyny

Darvis, college dude that was like “lesbians – cool, sisters – cool, pop music – cool,” has decided to see Tegan and Sara on their new tour. Darvis was first told about T&S by a raven-haired, tattooed “lame” in the in the rec hall. Darvis has been secretly bench pressing while listening to the T&S backlog, and no he didn’t cry – that’s just sweat, broseph!

Darvis has ordered Heartthrob from Warner Bros. Records. He first watched the video for the first single, “Closer,” after breaking up with his girlfriend of two years and finding out his mom has breast cancer. Bummer, dude! RIP: Dennis Palmer of The Shaking Ray Levis

From Creative Loafing (Atlanta):

Sad news came yesterday when word spread that Dennis Palmer of the Shaking Ray Levis died Friday night. A life-long resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., Palmer, 55, was dedicated to playing and raising awareness about the possibilities of free, improvised music for both listeners and performers. While playing synthesizer for decades alongside percussionist Bob Stagner, Palmer also worked with a long list of collaborators that includes the Rev. Howard Finster, guitarists Derek Bailey, Fred Frith, and Eugene Chadbourne, the Duplex Planet editor David Greenberger, Borbetomagus, John Zorn, and Col. Bruce Hampton, just to name a few.

Since 1986 the Shaking Ray Levi Society has functioned as a quintessential advocate for the arts in Chattanooga, bringing a diverse array of music to town, including Anthony Braxton, Cat Power, the Olivia Tremor Control, and Laurie Anderson.

Among Palmer’s most recent activity, the Shaking Ray Levis will be featured on a handful of songs on Duet For Theremin & Lap Steel’s forthcoming CD, Collaborations. There’s also a forthcoming David Greenberger and the SRLs CD, titled Tramps That Go Think In the Night, and a collaboration with vocalist Shelley Hirsch. Palmer was also finishing up a solo album titled White Wuf.

Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu and Eugene S. Robinson of Oxbow get busy, name their spawn Sal Mineo, and immediately take it on tour

Xiu Xiu progenitor Jamie Stewart and Oxbow vocalist Eugene S. Robinson have combined their weird and frightening forces to deliver a new album of collaborative music under the name Sal Mineo. Apparently influenced by the deceased actor of the same name, the duo describes their lovechild as “30 second to 3 minute long focused bursts of sonic crime, that plumbs the cooling depths of a pleasure cruised death.” If you dig or can at least wrap your pretty little head around that, Sal Mineo will be out April 23 on Important Records. Just remember: anything these purveyors of the perverse say is “much more about the accretion of failure, cinematic and otherwise” is going to dish out the auditory rough trade. No need to be embarrassed; we’re into that, too.

Stewart and Robinson have already taken their progeny on tour, playing one show a month throughout Europe.
