Herbcraft announces The Astral Body Electric and releases a track, and they'd like to help you redecorate your house

I know you’ve got some spare herbs lying around somewhere. How about artfully arranging a few sprigs of lavender in a mason jar to use as a nice centerpiece for your kitchen table? Or maybe you could hang it from the ceiling as an organic chandelier? Or, if you want to keep it simple, maybe just glue some mint leaves and basil leaves to a wooden picture frame?

Matt Lajoie and the other members of Herbcraft recently spent some time hanging out in an 18th-century New England barn, and when they weren’t gluing or painting or découpaging, they recorded a few songs. The Astral Body Electric will be Herbcraft’s third LP, and it’s no longer just Matt Lajoie playing freaky psychedelic tunes on his guitar. Dawn Aquarius plays organ, Nicholas Barker’s on drums and synth, Corinna Taylor plays flute and bass, and Doug Tuttle (of Mmoss) recorded their tunes directly to tape. He contributed to the group vocals too, as did Aaron Neveu (of Woods). Matt Valentine (of MV&EE) mastered the album, and everyone helped stitch stalks of rosemary to make lampshades and scrapbook covers.

The Astral Body Electric will be out March 5 on Woodsist, and you can check out “No Land” below to hear a few minutes of Herbcraft’s semi-improvised kaleidoscopic world. Stay tuned for craft tips from the band.
