Oh, Hood. Those sneaky devils like mystery almost as much as Jandek does. They claim to get twitchy in interviews if anyone asks them to explain their name, and they keep any official versions of their lyrics a secret. They haven’t released an album since 2005’s Outside Closer (TMT Review), and they haven’t played any shows since then either. Their sound eludes easy classification — sometimes pastoral post-rock, sometimes electronic art pop, sometimes lo-fi experimental. Although they’re currently on a long-term hiatus, the members of Hood have certainly kept busy working on side/solo projects, as well as running labels, fanzines, and club nights.
On December 5, the 10th anniversary of Hood’s fifth LP, Cold House, Domino will release a 6CD box set entitled Recollected, which includes not only remastered versions of their four Domino releases (Rustic Houses, Forlorn Valleys, The Cycle of Days and Seasons, Cold House, Outside Closer), but also various remastered EPs and The Hood Tapes, a collection of 24 rare and unreleased recordings.
