Okay, so, I know that fans of Morrissey are generally, by virtue of being fans of Morrissey, kind of into things being a bummer? But… this really is a bummer. And not just a pompadour-related bummer either.
According to Pitchfork, the crooner has been forced to postpone several of his US tourdates “in order to return to England to be with his mother, who has been hospitalized due to an illness.” Okay, type it with me, now: :(
Specifically, the shows scheduled beginning tomorrow for Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, Flint, MI, and Chicago, IL, are being rescheduled, with the tour due to resume October 29 in Minneapolis, MN. Fans who purchased tickets for postponed shows are “encouraged to hold on to their tickets,” though, as rescheduling details are promised “within the coming days.” As a matter of fact, Morrissey fansite True to You has posted the press release that I keep quoting from, which, in typical Morrissey fashion, says it all better and more evocatively than I ever could.
Events for this forthcoming week are postponed - but not cancelled - as Morrissey has returned to England where his mother has been hospitalized and is unwell.
Those who have already purchased tickets for the dates in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Flint and Chicago are encouraged to hold on to their tickets and look out for the rescheduled dates. The new dates will be announced within the coming days.
The remainder of the US tour will be unaffected, resuming in Minneapolis on Oct 29.
