Odeko readies new two-track single for Gobstopper imprint, premieres new track to help grime-up that pretty life of yours

Hot damn, this is perfect. See, after Bath-based producer Odeko’s grimy and propulsive 2016 debut A History with Samus convinced me to (among other things) quit my job, shun my loved ones, and start obsessively playing Metroid all day, every day, I’ve been a little… low on funds (not that I need much cash to sustain my amazing lifestyle of blasting cyborg-fantasy jams, throttling a greasy Nintendo controller, and occasionally pausing to consume handfuls of uncooked elbow macaroni… but still).

Which is why I’m admittedly glad all over to hear the news that his follow-up — once again via the burgeoning Gobstopper — is a straight-up two-track single. The A side, “Digital Botanics,” employs some rollicking drum kit patterns underneath some bouncy Sonic The Hedgehog melody lines that repeatedly run right off of digital cliffs into pits of ferocious, industrial noise, while the flipside’s “Construct Conduct” is some pure 80s synth music — that is, if it came to us mangled and backwards in time from some 2080s Dystopia.

The no-nonsense twofer comes out January 27 on both digital and vinyl iterations (though you can pre-order it right now), but TMT’s got the premiere of “Digital Botanics” streaming down below right now. Boom. I plan on hitting the replay button again myself… as soon as I finish this level.
