Preservation eases out new releases from Günter Schlienz and Dusted Lux

Worried you won’t have the perfect music to pump up your annual lazy river float this summer? Fear not. Preservation, the Australia-based archive of all things drift and drone, recently released a couple albums that are sure to set your mind a-wanderin’.

First up is the full-length debut (though certainly not first release) of German synthesist Günter Schlienz. Contemplation showcases Schlienz’s homemade modular set-up and features majestic drones and pastoral, raga-like constructions. “Humble” features Norm Chambers a.k.a. Panabrite in full-on kindred spirit mode.

Preservation’s second offering is Neverended, a new album from Dusted Lux, the Hartford, Connecticut-inhabiting project of Lee Camfield. Acoustic folk pairs well with ghostly, distant ambience, and Camfield seems well aware of this, cause he managed to squeeze out 44 whole minutes of the stuff. Neverended also features mastering by the master of masters Sean McCann.

Both of these are available in editions of 300 on compact disc; both feature artwork designed by Mark Gowing; only one album is green, the other looks more like a sort of maroon, but it’s tough to tell from the internet. Check out a couple samples below.
