Bryn Merrick died Saturday, September 12 after a long battle with cancer. He was the bassist for The Damned between 1983-1989 and, more recently, for The Shamones (a Ramones tribute act). From Pal Andy Johnson, member of The Shamones (via WalesOnline):
On behalf of his daughter, Ella, and sons, Richard and Christian, it is with so much sadness that I announce that my best friend, Bryn Merrick, passed away peacefully this morning [Saturday, September 12] after a long battle with cancer at Llandough Hospital near Cardiff.
