Smurphy, inspired by hearts and starry alignment, announces new album on LEAVING

Sure, I took astrology seriously. Back when I was in middle school and looking for any sign that my crush would suddenly come to her senses and declare her mutual admiration, I opened up my daily Aries email in the hopes of reading something unusually personalized, uplifting, and ultimately true. That message never materialized, so from that point up until now, everything Zodiac-related has gotten me incensed!

But this was all before Mexican artist Jessica Smurphy showed me the light of astronomical relevance. Check out Smurphy’s seriously unsung 2014 mixtape #GEMINISS here, then note the tracks “Aquarius Risinn” and “Pisces” on her upcoming A Shapeless Pool of Lovely Pale Colours Suspended in the Darkness album, out May 12 on LEAVING: it’s clear that we’ve found a reliable source for true horoscopes going forward. The prescription this time around? “Love what you are and what you do,” conveyed through tracks that are undoubtedly more complex than that. A prior booking at MUTEK in Mexico City and participation in the outfits Supermad and Post-Pastel all seem to confirm this.

Contrarily, the debut single, “Missing2MyBB,” sounds rather like a dreamscape. I predict future success:

A Shapeless Pool of Lovely Pale Colours Suspended in the Darkness tracklisting:

01. Missing2MyBB
02. Sunset
03. Aquarius Risinn
04. Jardín
05. Wicked
06. Le Doppe Shoppe
07. PyramiDUB
08. Heavenly Bodies
09. Alexander.Technique
10. Lean&Mean
