If you’re like me and you’re already preparing your playlist in gleeful anticipation of the 2012 Apocalypse, then you’ll be delighted to hear that universally-recognized harbingers of doom sunn 0))) will be reissuing their second album ØØ Void November 22 on Southern Lord. The album, originally released through Hydra Head in 2000, has since only received one limited reissue via Daymare Records of Japan in 2008. As such, worshippers of the Seattle-based drone duo have more than likely had somewhat of a difficult time getting their hands on a physical copy of this album. No longer.
In addition to the core guitarists, Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson, ØØ Void also features Stuart Dahlquist (Burning Witch, Goatsnake) on bass, and contributions from Petra Haden (Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, The Decemberists) on violin and vocals. Similarly, while the two-disc Daymare release offered a killer collaboration with Nurse with Wound, the folks at Southern Lord are unfortunately not nearly as generous with their gratuities. This 2011 reissue just features redesigned artwork by Stephen Kasner and a layout by Stephen O’Malley. Here are some European sunn 0))) tourdates to make up for it.
