Tyvek tour U.S. to confirm they’re not just a polyurethane product

Tyvek tour U.S. to confirm they're not just a polyurethane product http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/l_96e8da5d3ae939671231be6d697f903b.jpg

Tyvek’s sound, much like the condition of the city of Detroit from which they hail, is a filthy mess going in complete structural reverse. Instead of building up, their songs break and strip down and completely fall apart. Which is exactly what is so damn refreshing about Tyvek’s existence. They realize everything’s been done, so instead of progressing they, in turn, digress. All this is embodied in their second full-length Nothing Fits, which was just released by In the Red.

With this raucous piece of rockery still fresh in people’s ears, Tyvek are manning four wheels and hittin’ the road come January. Because who wouldn’t want an excuse to get out of Detroit.

Kanye West and Jay-Z album Watch the Throne “coming in one week”

Kanye West has said some pretty stupid shit in the past, but his most recent will excite all of you still pretending that you love My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. (Whoa, JUST KIDDING. It made #10 on our 2010 year-end list.) At a New Year’s Eve after-party hosted by Jay-Z in Las Vegas, West announced that Watch the Throne, his collaboration with Jigga That Nigga, is “coming in one week.”

It’s unclear whether West is referring to the completion of the recording process or if the actual album will be released within the week (can we really trust what he says in between his “douchebag”/”asshole” toasting?), but you can check out the high-quality video below and decide for yourself (via Nah Right):

In either case, we do know that Watch The Throne is due via Def Jam sometime this year. Hope you’re all ready for some “couture hip-hop.”

Talib Kweli to release new album Gutter Rainbows on his own imprint

It has been one prolific year for Talib Kweli. Dude has already seen the release of one album earlier this spring as half of Reflection Eternal with producer Hi-Tek, and now he’s gearing up for the January 25 release of his next solo album, Gutter Rainbows. The new album will be the first-ever release from Kweli’s Talibra imprint, which is pretty rad. Hear the lead-off track, “After the Rain,” produced by 88-Keys, over here.

In other news, Talib Kweli is the most interesting man in the world. (Sorry Dos Equis guy.) Did you know he studied experimental theatre at NYU and is a spokesman/mentor for an after-school music program? I just got that from Wikipedia, America’s premiere information source. Next week his entry could say he’s collaborating with Justin Bieber on an album of showtunes and training ferrets to ride motorized boats. Then again, WHO’S TO SAY HE’S NOT????

Gutter Rainbows tracklist:

01. After the Rain (prod. 88-Keys)
02. Gutter Rainbows (prod. M-Phazes)
03. So Low (prod. Shuko)
04. Palookas feat. Sean Price (prod. Marco Polo)
05. Mr. International feat. Nigel Hall (prod. S1)
06. I’m on One (prod. KHRYSIS!)
07. Wait for You feat. Kendra Ross (prod. S1)
08. Ain’t Waiting feat. Outasight (prod. 6th sense)
09. Cold Rain (prod. Ski Beatz)
10. Friends & Family (prod. E. Jones)
11. Tater Tot (prod. Nick Speed)
12. How You Love Me feat. Blaq Toven (prod. Blaq Toven)
13. Uh Oh feat. Jean Grae (prod. Oh No)
14. Self Savior feat. Chace Infinite (prod. Maurice Brown)
