Unsound Festival lands In Toronto with Tim Hecker, Stars of the Lid, Morton Subotnick, and an Olfactory Experience

Do you like festivals? Sure you do. Who doesn’t?!?! All those fringed vests and the one wacky drugged-up guy who’s desperate for attention. People getting mad when you step on their blankets. Well, sorry losers, this festival ain’t that kind of festival. For lo, this festival is Unsound. It was in NYC for four spins ‘round the ol’ earth, and now it’s in Toronto as part of that city’s multiarts festival, Luminato. It’s the same wonderful weirdo extravaganza that goes down in Krakow, Poland every year.

Speaking of weird and wonderful, attendees will get to experience the Unsound-produced Ephemera project, a show that combines the sweet sounds of Tim Hecker with lighting design by Marcel Weber a.k.a. MFO, plus olfactory art by “conceptual perfumer Geza Schoen.” For your money, you also get a bit of Stars of the Lid, Morton Subotnick doing his 1967 release Silver Apples of the Moon, Robert Henke making lazers and sounds under the name Lumiere II, Helena Hauff, Atom™ and Robin Fox’s Double Vision, Ben Frost, and more.

The whole thing goes down June 19-20.
