Daniel Lanois and Venetian Snares are two artists that are, as far as the spectrum goes, about as distant as can be. Lanois creates soothing ambient washes by coaxing his pedal steel guitar. Venetian Snares chops beats to all hell as if in the middle of a methamphetamine binge. If you’ve ever wondered what they might sound together (and really, who hasn’t?), look no further, ‘cause Snarey’s got a track up on his Bandcamp already. You like ketchup and mayonnaise on your sandwiches right??
Grab the whole album — titled simply Venetian Snares X Daniel Lanois— on May 4, when their efforts will be released on Planet Mu (check out those Planet Mu-y track names), and see them live in New York City June 14. Who knows; maybe you’ll all end up going out for pizza afterwards? (You like mustard and peanut butter on yours, right??)
