Black Pus (Brian Chippendale of Lightning Bolt) offers new track, some tour dates, and, as always, another mental image of some black fucking pus http://www.tinymixtapes.com/sites/default/files/1302/news-13-02-black-pus.jpg

Listen mister know-it-all, too-cool-to-listen-to-stuff-for-more-than-24-seconds, music-blog reader-guy. If you wanna be all shitty and stereotype-y and say that Lightning Bolt drummer Brian Chippendale’s solo work as Black Pus probably just “sounds like lightning Bolt without the other guy from Lightning Bolt playing so much bass over the top of it,” then fine. But I, for one, am going to give the guy a little bit of RESPECT and a modicum of fucking CREDIT and actually listen to the new track, “1000 Years,” that the Thrill Jockey label has offered in advance of his new album All My Relations that comes out on March 19. So if you’ll kindly excuse me…

Oh. No. Wait. Nevermind. You were right. That’s exactly what it sounds like. Okay! Hey, catch him on tour this May (live loops, drumming, some singing, yadda-yadda-yadda)! And pre-order the album now to receive an “11” x 11” hand-made three-color silk screen print” of one of Chippendale’s comics! Do it! While I slink away! Byyyyye!

All My Relations tracklist:

01. Marauder
02. Fly on the Wall
03. 1000 Years
04. Word on the Street

Tyler, The Creator sets release date for Wolf, premieres new video for “Domo 23,” announces tour, exists paradoxically

Tyler, the Creator, who has reportedly traveled back in time on no less than three occasions to “accidentally” kill his forebears (rendering his existence temporally paradoxical), has announced a new album, Wolf, which will be out April 2. Wolf will have three separate album covers, presumably one for each of the different timelines “created” by his willy-nilly jaunts through time, with the deluxe version featuring artwork by L.A. artist Mark Ryden. The album’s first video, for “Domo 23,” just dropped via the Odd Future website:

Further dispatches from the Odd Future camp consisted of garbled transmissions on the return of Odd Future’s Adult Swim show “Loiter Squad” on March 10, Tyler’s new Golf Wang clothing line, and something about time’s ability to be altered that ended up sounding kind of misogynistic. The clothing line will be available on the upcoming tour, which will find Tyler taking his space-time warping black hole of Steve Albini-infuriating mayhem around the US, Canada, and Europe beginning in March. No scientists could be reached for comment, but one imagines they all have their fingers crossed that Tyler manages to rewrite the laws of physics before heading out or else we are all probably doomed.

RIP: Tim Dog

From The Source:

Hip Hop mourns its first loss of 2013, with the death of BX veteran rapper Timothy “Tim Dog” Blair today from a seizure following a long bout with diabetes. He was 46 years old.

Tim is most noted for his “Fuck Compton” anthem, directed towards Dr. Dre and N.W.A.,which was possibly the catalyst of the “so-called” East Coast vs. West Coast rap rift. The song garnered several response tracks from DJ Quik, Compton’s Most Wanted, and Dr. Dre. He has appeared on projects with the likes of KRS-One and The Ultramagnetic MCs.

Mount Eerie tours Europe, samples the continent’s trains

There’s a lot to be said for these United States, but an impressive rail system, that’s not one of them. What’s a train-loving boy to do? You get the hell out of America and you head for a rail paradise like Europe. That’s exactly what Tiny Mix Tapes darlings Mount Eerie are doing, as mastermind Phil Elverum and pals head to Europe and the UK for much of May. Sources report* that Elverum plans on riding every single train he can possibly, he’ll break your thumbs if you try to stop him.

As you may recall, Mount Eerie put out two records last year, Clear Moon (TMT Review) and Ocean Roar (TMT Review). As you may also recall, we really liked these records. Please stop reading this story, because you should just be listening to those records instead.

* Sources in question are entirely phony. Whether any member of Mount Eerie plans to spend even a single minute on a train is unknown to those outside the band’s inner circle. But if I was a betting man, I’d put money on trains.

Mount Eerie dates:

05.06.13 - Helsinki, Finland - Kuudes Linja
05.07.13 - Stavanger, Norway - Folken
05.08.13 - Bergen, Norway - Landmark
05.09.13 - Oslo, Norway - Revolver
05.10.13 - Aarhus, Denmark - Pop Revo Festival
05.11.13 - Copenhagen, Denmark - Huset
05.12.13 - Hamburg, Germany - Hafenklang
05.13.13 - Berlin, Germany - Festsaal Kreuzberg
05.14.13 - Leipzig, Germany - UT Connewitz
05.15.13 - Kortrijk, Belgium - De Kreun
05.16.13 - Brussels, Belgium - Ancienne Belgique
05.17.13 - Koeln, Germany - King Georg

Rainbow Arabia prepare new album FM Sushi, everyone hopes they washed their hands

Electro-pop pair and Eastern-culture enthusiasts Rainbow Arabia have announced a new album entitled FM Sushi. The album’s teaser trailer finds the band moving away from the “world music” leanings of their previous full-length — 2011’s Boys and Diamonds (TMT Review) — and serving up straight 80s synth with a sprinkling of techno-noir for flavor. If the Bladerunner-tinged trailer hooks you, the band’s new track, “River’s Edge,” is available to stream on SoundCloud.

Not content to simply diversify their cultural tastes, the wife and husband duo have decided to spice up their band life by including Dylan Ryan, drummer and former member of Cursive, in their fun. When FM Sushi comes out April 15 from Time No Place, we’ll see how this addition morphs their mojo.

FM Sushi tracklist:

01. River’s Edge
02. He Is Sorceror
03. Math Quiz
04. Lacking Risk
05. Thai Iced Tea
06. Three Moons
07. FM Sushi
08. Precreation
09. Moments I Had
10. Silence Me

Blackout Beach (Carey Mercer) announces Blues Trip record, still holds grudge against death

Back in the late days of 2011, Frog Eyes’ Carey Mercer, in the guise of his Blackout Beach solo project, very clearly expressed his feelings on death. Namely, Fuck Death (TMT Review). More than a year has passed, but Mercer’s feelings on the subject haven’t changed. He’s not done hating death and, as a result, he’s revisiting that 2011 album. On April 16, Soft Abuse will put out Blues Trip, a new Blackout Beach record that reinterprets the songs of Fuck Death.

While the original record was heavy on synthesizers, Mercer has taken a more traditional, “rockist” approach to Blues Trip. In doing so, he enlisted his Frog Eyes bandmate (and also wife) Melanie Campbell to play drums and former Wolf Parade member Dante DeCaro to play bass. The trio got together for a quick recording session at DeCaro’s studio, presumably only pausing to see who could make the gnarliest blues face.

Blues Trip will be a vinyl-only release available in limited quantities. Except it will also be available in digital format through the band’s Bandcamp page. So it’s limited in vinyl format, but exists in infinite quantities on the internet. In fact, nothing really dies on the internet, so chew on that for a second, Carey Mercer.

Blues Trip tracklist:

01. Hornet’s Fury into the Bandit’s Mouth
02. Deserter’s Song
03. Beautiful Burning Desire
04. Broken Braying of the Donkey’s Cry
05. Torchlights Banned
06. Cloud of Evil
07. Be Forewarned, the Night Has Come
08. Sending Postcards to a Ghost
