Things are gettin' weird at OFF Festival 2014: Glenn Branca set to curate Experimental Stage

Things are about to get weird(er) in Poland. This August, the OFF Festival is returning to the Southern Polish city of Katowice for three days of avant-garde music, camping, and fiddles. Taking place in the pastoral Three Lakes Valley, OFF is proud to be the only spot East of Berlin where you can find this many experimental sounds in one place. This year the festival is focusing on the 200th birthday of composer and anthropologist Oskar Kolberg, with a stage dedicated to world music, and on Glenn Branca, who’s curating his own wild and wooly lineup.

On Saturday, August 2, the Kolberg stage will feature avant-folk from the likes of Kapela Brodów, Same Suki, DakhaBrakha, Frank Fairfield, Jerusalem in My Heart, Karpaty Magiczne, Mark Ernestus, and Jeri-Jeri. Then on Sunday, August 3, it’s Branca time. His picks include Hatti Vatti, Stefan Wesołowski, Evan Ziporyn, The Paranoid Critical Revolution, Nisennenmondai, and Etienne Jaumet.

Of course, this is all in addition to the already action-packed lineup, with artists like Black Lips, Belle and Sebastian, Chelsea Wolfe, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Perfect Pussy slated to appear. You can learn more and peep the entire lineup here.
