♫♪  Tanner Garza - “Eventide”

Another month into 2k16 and Psychic Troubles has another fresh tape for your ears. After the tremendous Kaniza from Maxwell August Croy comes Eventide, another notch on the belt from the ever prolific Tanner Garza. From the blissed out tones of “Last Light” to the dark ambient dread of “Nightcap (Sleep),” TG makes ample use of these forty minutes to create an isolated sonic terrain (think the bottom of the ocean or the far reaches of deep space) that instantly transports the listener. The minimal synth and effects setup is used to brilliant effect throughout, and Eventide is a strong release for this bleak February landscape, whether you’re stuck in the relentless eastern snowstorms or the rain-soaked west. Speaking to the latter scenario, prior to this writing I got caught in a downpour while on an errand, and I can think of nothing better than drying off, dropping this cassette in the player, and getting a serious brood going over a cup of tea. That’s not to say Eventide is suitable only for the dark winter months, as we’ll likely be ripping this one throughout the year, in order to channel these appealingly dark tonal zones. Eventide cassettes are available now via Psychic Troubles (get your copy HERE).
