♫♪  They Will Burn Us To Ashes - “There Was Nothing You Could Have Done”

Here’s a sprawling, hiss-tinged dub ambient burner for you, from Mike Mangino’s They Will Burn Us To Ashes project. As one half of the “basement industrial duo SMERSH,” Mangino’s solo work ventures into familiar dark territory, albeit with a more meditative, dub leaning. “There Was Nothing You Could Have Done,” streaming below, gives a good idea of the direction and scope of the self-titled cassette: lengthy, static heavy transmissions from a mad musical genius’ underground bunker, picked up on a busted radio you found in your parents’ dank basement crawl space.

The They Will Burn Us To Ashes cassettes became available on Halloween through a new label, Saga House, out of Philadelphia. With a 42-minute B-side track, this one is sure to be aiding me through my 4am wakeup calls and the drudgery of each soul-crushing work day.
