In all seriousness, The Herbaliser (Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba) have been channeling their unique brand of prefix-varying hip-hop through the legendary Ninja Tune label since the mid-'90s, including a mix in the Zen-released Solid Steel series. That makes this installment of FabricLive as sure a bet as you'll ever see. Jake and Ollie tag team the tables — scratching and mixing out everything from James Brown and Jackson 5 to The Roots and Diplo, everything hip-hop and beyond. This is not just some timely released contemplative historical document, however, as Ollie explicitly set out with the goal to make 26 a true party mix, and damn if they don't ride that steady ass-shaking groove for the entire capacity of the CD. Being one of the most difficult genres to spin, this is not only one of the best Fabric CDs yet produced, but one of the best hip-hop mixes I've ever had the privilege of hearing. Props.
