A$AP Rocky to release self-produced instrumental album, drop it whenever he damn well pleases

If there’s one thing everyone can agree on about A$AP Rocky’s recent full-length, Long.Live.A$AP (TMT Review), it’s that it had rapping on every song, but only a few tracks produced by Rocky himself. Everybody can agree on this because it is true. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, well, that’s a matter of personal preference. But let’s say that you think it’s a bad thing, a horrible thing really. Let’s say you would far prefer an A$AP Rocky album with no rapping and every track produced by A$AP Rocky. Great news for you, because Pitchfork reports that just that is happening.

In an interview with the Bay Area’s WiLD 94.9, Rocky talks about putting out a self-produced instrumental record sometime in the near future. At the moment, “the near future” is the closest thing this album has to an official release date. Rocky says that he doesn’t even plan to announce the album’s release date, instead opting to drop it whenever he feels like. Great, just great. Now we have to live in constant fear of an A$AP Rocky album coming out of nowhere. Could happen at any time. It’s your wedding day. You’re walking down the aisle. You lean in to kiss the bride/groom. Bam, A$AP Rocky instrumental album out of nowhere. Everybody dies.
