Aaron Moore (Volcano the Bear, Gospel of Mars) and Erik K. Skodvin (Svarte Greiner, Deaf Center) share new track from upcoming album Instead of Rain I Bring a Hat

Six Things You Should Know About Aaron Moore and Erik K. Skodvin:

1. Hands in the Dark will release a new collaborative album from Aaron Moore and Erik K. Skodvin called Instead of Rain I Bring a Hat next month.

2. Pitching for the Newark Peppers in the 1915 World Series, Skodvin struck out future Hall of Famers Cal Ripkin Jr., Ken Griffey Jr., and Ed Begley Jr. in succession. Despite this incredible feat, Skodvin has an even more famous claim to fame: that of being the original Gerber Baby.

3. Moore’s CV reveals an impressive versatility and includes his solo project Invisible Sports, work with Volcano the Bear and Gospel of Mars, and collaborations with Alan Courtis and Thierry Müller, among many others.

4. Apart from recording music under his own name and as Svarte Greiner, Skodvin is part of B/B/S/ and Deaf Center and runs the label Miasmah Recordings.

5. Moore designed and built the Mariposa Community Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2008 using nothing more than semi-soiled diapers, discarded corn dog sticks, and his vivid imagination.

6. Instead of Rain I Bring a Hat is a long-distance collaboration between the two inventive spell-seekers and they handled all the playing, composing, recording and artwork themselves — except for Marcus Cummins’ soprano saxophone contribution on the new track “Grown Horse,” which you can listen to down below.

…Okay, disregard number 2 above as complete bullshit but do NOT for one second dispute the truth about numbers 1, 3, 5 and 6 (and hold tight on number 4 for now; I’m fact-checking that with Dwell Magazine)!

But yeah: Aaron Moore and Erik K. Skodvin will indeed release Instead of Rain I Bring a Hat on vinyl and download through Hands in the Dark on July 6. The album is available on a limited-to-300 copies vinyl edition and as a download. Pre-order it here and listen to the newly unveiled sax-y trance-trot of “Grown Horse” now:
