If you’re reading this article right now, you’re probably thinking the same thing I am in this moment, so let me just get this bit out of the way first: “GAWD, I miss Sun City Girls!!!” (Feel better? I do.)

Now then, great news: we officially don’t have to miss Sun City Girls quite as much anymore! Because Alan Bishop — the big boss of Sublime Frequencies Sun City’s resident sun god — is back on the experimental folk-rock scene with a huge new album. Comprised of 35 (!) brand new songs recorded in Cairo between 2014 and 2017 — and featuring members of The Invisible Hands, The Spoils, Master Musicians of Bukkake, The Dwarfs of East Agouza, and Climax Golden Twins — this new jukebox of megajams is entitled With a Beaker on the Burner and an Otter in the Oven (who’s hungry?). It’s due November 3 as a 90’s-nostalgia-ready double-CD via the Abduction label, and it comes with a “24-page booklet with artwork, lyrics, and credits.” Wow, B., Wow!

Okay, case closed, right? All you gotta do is pre-order the little bugger here, track down working CD player, and begin enjoying your life again! End of TMT news post. That’s all, folks!!!

…OH WAIT. Nope. I sorta forgot to mention: because this is Alan Bishop we’re talking about here (and because you might not be able to find a working CD player after all), the album is ALSO coming out as three separate LP’s, each with its own release date and title. Volume 1, SUB-entitled Natural Wonder comes out on October 6; while Volume 2 (A Mark Twain August) hits on October 20, with the final volume (Heathen Folklore) following on November 3. Got all that?

Good. Then there’s absolutely no need to watch the trailer/explanatory video embedded below for more information! (I’ll just go ahead and stick it down there anyway — along with the 2-CD version’s cover art and tracklisting — but, seriously…DO NOT WATCH IT. I’ll totally know.)
