Like any good stereotypical Southerner, Andy Jenkins likes to take his sweeeee-eeeeeeet time. We first heard from the Richmond, Virginia-based songwriter in 2016, when his surfy Japan-inspired single “Lazy Coast” first put him on planet earth’s radar. Now, Jenkins’ debut full-length is finally scheduled for a release: the album will come out on June 15 via Spacebomb Records, and there’s a fresh new single out there to celebrate that.

The song, titled “Ascendant Hog,” offers a neat preview of what to expect from the upcoming LP: a relaxed but slightly surrealist throwback to the Americana vibes of ’70s pop rock, recorded in a collaborative spirit with Jenkins’ closest circle of hometown friends: the Spacebomb bunch. Just like the whole album, it was produced by label founder and head honcho Matthew E. White, in an earnest effort “to tell the greater world that Virginia has become, once again, a musical frontier.”

Even though it’s still a few months away and therefore not quite ripe yet, Jenkins’ sweeeeeee-eeet Sweet Bunch can be pre-ordered now on CD and regular or limited (marbled clear) vinyl. Go get yours, and listen to “Ascendant Hog” below:
