Arrington de Dionyso releases new LP Songs of Psychic Fire, easily controls you with his thoughts

Experimental artist Arrington de Dionyso, known for his surrealist world music mindfuckonrecord work, has a new album out, Songs of Psychic Fire, Vol. 3. The sound consists of, as Dionyso describes it, “Extreme throat-singing noise overload, tape echo manipulations inspired by shamanic fortress, and gnostic sub-bass destruction and rebirth.” And that’s about as accurately as one can describe it.

The record was tracked during the Spring Equinox this year, using voice, bass clarinet, modified Marantz tape recorder, and echoplex at Dub Narcotic in Olympia. Dionyso attributes the record’s inspiration to his recent tour in Sweden, where he “performed far away from any city in the ruins of an ancient fortress, feeling the call of the spirits through the rocks and burning branches.”

Arrington de Dionyso also has a new book out with Davide Toffolo entitled 25 Disegni, published by Paper Resistance in Bologna, Italy in 2011. The book is part of a series by Paper Resistance where two artists are chosen for each edition and invited to submit 25 drawings that somehow refer to similar concepts or themes. Within the inside cover and the middle page, both artists collaborate on a drawing together. Toffolo and de Dionyso chose an erotic concept.
