Exciting news coming out of the Bay Area ambient/synth/dreampop scene; Sacred Bones has just signed a fresh new artist named SPELLLING (yup, that’s three “L’s” in there for bonus irreverence points), and she’s announced an upcoming 7-inch called Hard to Please, due out August 3.

A video for the new single (of the same name) also just dropped this week, so be sure to check that out down below as it presents quite the visually emanating artscape; one that, as SPELLLING herself puts it, aims to “animate the fantasies of [a] heart high on desire.”

As for the music, the sound materializes from a milieu of playful synthisms before subtly crescendoing into something peculiarly undefinable, yet remarkably powerful — it’s dynamic, reposing, and enigmatic all at once. In other words: basically some grade-A gospel for all you Sacred Bones proselytes out there.

You can pre-order the 7-inch vinyl right here (which includes a cover of Sparks’ 1979 dancefloor jam “My Other Voice”) in either standard black or limited edition yellow — but be quick with those mouse clicks; only 300 copies will be initially pressed.

Finally, SPELLLING will be knocking out a hat-trick of late summer west coast live performances (check out the venue locations below, following the clip, artwork, and tracklisting), so be sure to get in on those if you’re in the area and happen to need an ASAP dream/synth fix.
