As we get older, the inclination to reminisce supposedly increases. In my particular case, what stands out isn’t the oft-cited trek through 18 feet of snow in order to get to school; instead, “back in my day,” I remember when the official online store for Warp Records actually directed to the official online store for Warp Records. The Warp-owned Bleep.com, which had existed as a download-only store since 2004, absorbed the Warpmart of my teenage years in 2008, and what resulted was a compound outlet for online purchases of both Warp releases and electronic music generally, in digital and non-digital formats. So I’m not even upset! I can sacrifice nostalgia in the name of more-efficient online retail. Who wouldn’t?! Who… wouldn’t?
Likewise, and of further benefit/interest to the music-loving consumer, May 5 will mark the release of Bleep:10, a 10th anniversary compilation featuring new and exclusive tracks from Oneohtrix Point Never, Autechre, Fuck Buttons, Shackleton, Gas, and [everyone on the tracklisting].
