We haven’t heard much from Kim Gordon and Bill Nace’s experimental (and anatomically-correct) project Body/Head since the release of 2013’s sleeper hit Coming Apart (except of course 2016 live album No Waves). But it’s time to prepare those hearing-holes for more hearing, hearing fans — because both the Body and the Head are BACK and more conjoined than ever on their second album, The Switch, out July 13 on Matador.

But don’t go thinking, “Oh, I bet this record is exactly like the last one, with the same song titles, album art, and music,” because, oh brother: you’ll be cleaning a lot of egg off of that silly little face of yours (and those stains don’t come out)! No, The Switch is totally new and different! Like, remember how Coming Apart was “more of a rock record”? Well, the new album, true to its name, “finds the duo working with a more subtle palette, refining their ideas and identity.” It’s also heavily improvised, with much of it composed during live performances. Is that fresh enough for you?!

And speaking of live performances, why not take your body/head to a Body/Head show on their upcoming tour? That’s right: eleven perfectly-plotted North American dates in which you can see two of the most prolific guitar maestros in the game go out it in person in support of their new album! Check out the itinerary below.

But that’s not all, folks. Also be sure to check out the first track from The Switch, “You Don’t Need,” down below with the album tracklisting. Plus, don’t forget to pre-order the album at all your favorite outlets here. And of course, stay tuned for the Buzzfeed quiz to find out whether you’re the Body or the Head! (I’m both!)
