Classic albums from French proto-electro duo Space Art get reissues alongside new remix EP

French independent label Because Music has gone to the vaults for vintage French electronic sounds before, notably with their acclaimed Cosmic Machine compilation from 2013 (and its sequel released earlier this year), but they just recently made available a handful of particularly significant artifacts of the mode: Space Art’s entire classic three-album discography.

Dominique Perrier and Roger Rizzitelli’s influential electronic act first appeared in 1977 with a self-titled album of early synth-pop sketches, but the duo went on to release two more full-length records, 1977’s Trip In the Center Head and 1980’s Play Back, before going on a decades-long hiatus soon after. From that point, Perrier enjoyed a long career of collaboration with trailblazing electronic legend Jean-Michel Jarre before reviving Space Art with a tribute project, Space Art (Tribute), in 2012.

On November 11, Because Music re-released all three of the duo’s classic albums — Space Art, Trip In the Center Head, and Play Back — on vinyl utilizing “long-awaited” 2010 digital remasters. All three reissues, which include CDs and posters, are available now.

Alongside the re-releases, the label has also delivered an EP featuring four brand new remixes of three classic Space Art tracks — “Nous Savons Tout,” “Welcome to Love,” and “Onyx” — by Prins Thomas, Psychemagik, Daniele Baldelli and Marco Dionigi. The EP comes on 2x12-inch vinyl, also with included CD. Get a glimpse at the tracklist and preview Prins Thomas’s take on “Welcome to Love” below:
