Interspersed with tense, monosyllabic interludes, Brooklyn-based psych-pop trio The Dreebs’ upcoming LP Forest of A Crew sounds like a journey through subterranean rooms throbbing with electronic guts and entrails, the rotting tech infrastructure of a lazy city. It’s also a very quizzically melodic, hard-rocking record, from musicians who have been making their own form of NYC noise since 2009. Forest, their third album, is out via Ramp Local on June 1.
On a record that takes many stylistic turns while maintaining an aggressive, experimental tilt, “Love Your Body” is one of the more sultry numbers, playing on the inherently unstable orbiting of rapped verses over ambient staccato. This is the third single from the album; the band recently shared the track “Reece” on NPR and “My Killer” over at Pitchfork.
Additionally, the band will be playing their record release show a day before the release date, on May 31, alongside noisy rockers Bambara, at Brooklyn’s Secret Project Robot, followed by a short run of US dates in June.
