Freddie Gibbs to tour Piñata in cities far away from you

The Lord Gibbeth and the Lord taketh away: Freddie Gibbs released the best hip-hop album of 2014, but he’s probably not coming to your town to tour it.

Right off the heels of a sold-out European tour (Yep — the demand is there, he honestly just doesn’t want to see you), Gibbs announced a brief trek through Canada, the East Coast, and a couple other places actually deserving of his time. Well, kind of: a list of cities has been announced for the tour but most venues haven’t, as Gibbs ponders if a relaxing vacation would be nicer than this whole performing thing.

Two rousing shows are confirmed for the tour, however: the Odd Future-affiliated Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival and Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Members of Odd Future popped up several times on the aforementioned Piñata, so a live collaboration seems likely. And since I’m already making totally unsubstantiated announcements on what will happen at the show, let me just say Gibbs will also be performing Robin Thicke’s parts on “Blurred Lines” during Pharrell’s set at the festival. In Austin, Gibbs will reunite with Piñata co-conspirator Madlib at Fun Fun Fest (this part is actually true) for a set that one can assume will feature Gibbs and ‘Lib blindfolded and swinging at an actual piñata as the Piñata instrumentals play in the background (this part? probably not going to happen). Now excuse me, as I have to go clear “Camp Flog Gnaw” from my Google search history.
