Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and cultural writer Carl Abrahamsson announce album

Cultural disruptor and world-famous pandrogyne Genesis Breyer P-Orridge is teaming up with longtime friend and cultural anthropologist Carl Abrahamsson for a new release on Ideal Recordings.

Genesis will be a familiar name to TMT readers as the songwriter at the head of the bands Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, as well as Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth, an organization centered around occult interests and ritual practice. It was through this latter group that P-Orridge and Abrahamsson would come into contact, spurring a lifelong friendship. Abrahamsson’s interests as a writer were greatly informed by this period; he would later write about the Temple directly in his writings on occulture, a term Genesis coined.

The two friends have engaged with art through a multiplicity of methods, music being merely one form. Their efforts will be collected on the LP Loyalty Does Not End With Death (taking its title from one of Genesis’ art exhibitions), as well as a bonus limited edition 12-inch with two additional tracks: “Slowly” and “Third Minds Think Alike.”

Pre-order the 12-inch now at Ideal Recordings, and watch the video for “Firefly’s Last Spark” (edited from archival material by Abrahamsson), a track from the forthcoming album, down below:
