Hiss Golden Messenger signs to Merge, announces new record Lateness of Dancers; cryptic names soon to inherit the Earth

Singer/songwriter Hiss Golden Messenger (not his real name) has signed on with alternative music powerhouse Merge Records and announced a new album called Lateness of Dancers, which will hit stores September 9. Although the dancers have yet to explain why they are late, the limited information available ticks all the classic Americana mythology boxes: recorded in rural location, check (outskirts of Hillsborough, NC); in a barn, check (+ tin roof); joined by a bunch of mates and frequent collaborators, check (William Tyler, Scott Hirsch, Phil and Brad Cook of Megafaun); misty hued, pastoral setting with animal cover art, check (as evidenced above).
