Hot Snakes reheat themselves, announce first album in 14 years, Jericho Sirens

Y’all remember when post-hardcore was just the freshest shit on the block? And then remember 10+ years later when it was just the hottest shit in town and you were cruisin’ in your parents’ car blasting Hot Snakes’ Suicide Invoice and all the fly hotties downtown were shooting you ambiguous looks at the stop light? And then a few years later the genre took a turn for the worse, and your life followed a similarly disappointing trajectory, and you couldn’t bring yourself to listen to contemporary punk anymore because it reminded you of a time when you weren’t the biggest loser around? No? Just me?

Well, whatever, I guess I’m excited, then, because Hot Snakes are making their grand return after 14 years with a new album on Sub Pop called Jericho Sirens. It’s out March 16. (You can tell they’ve been gone for a while, because when you Google them, you still get a link to their MySpace profile.)

I know what you’re thinking: I need a taste of this thing before I invest anymore time reading this stupid article. Well, I have great news: you can listen to the first single, “Six Wave Hold-Down,” below! It has everything you could possibly want: scratchy vocals, that classic punk guitar tone, a polyrhythmic salsa/vaporwave breakdown! What, you don’t believe me? I guess you’ll have to go listen, then!

If you want to fulfill the wildest dreams of your 15-year-old self, pre-order the album at your outlet of choice here, and make sure to head to the Sub Pop store to score the record on standard clear vinyl or, for a limited time, grab the very ironic “Loser Edition,” which comes on black vinyl and is perfect for burnouts like me and you (okay — just me). Oh, and starting tomorrow, you can grab reissues of Hot Snakes’ first three albums here. That is, of course, if you aren’t afraid to succumb to nostalgia in much the same vein as Narcissus’ narcissism.

And as if that wasn’t ENOUGH GODDAMNED NEWS ALREADY, you can also read the album tracklist below alongside a list of UK and US tour dates. Alright… now we’re done here, so go prepare yourself for the eighth wave of post-hardcore and pray at the Altar of Fugazi like the rest of us.
